A unique journey from Kerung to Saga, a message of yoga, nature and world peace.
The journey to Kailash-Mansarovar is not just a religious or touristic trip; it is a unique experience of self-purification, oneness with nature, world-friendliness and spiritual awareness.

We, 108 national and international yoga gurus of the World Peace and Spiritual Science Society (GSPSS), set out on a journey with the great objective of setting a world record by performing group yoga on the banks of Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar on the occasion of the 12th International Yoga Day.
Every day of this journey became an experience to remember for a lifetime. Among them, the day spent in the Kerung region of China was particularly memorable.
Natural Beauty of China
After crossing the border of Nepal and entering the Tibetan territory of China, the environment, culture, landscape, and natural beauty made us feel that we had reached a new world. The beautiful city of Kerung, located at the foot of the mountains, looked calm, clean, and orderly. The green hills, clean air, neat roads, well-organized settlements, and the mountainous environment made our minds happy. Despite the fatigue of the journey, the unique beauty of nature filled our minds with energy and enthusiasm.
We explored the beautiful natural surroundings around Kerung city.
We observed the beautiful natural scenery around Kerung town. Despite the altitude, the environment there was enchanting. The clean waterfalls flowing from the mountain slopes, the gurgling streams, the green grasslands, the colorful wildflowers, and the chirping of birds enlivened the entire environment. That unique view of nature made us all silent for a few moments and experience the true beauty of life.
Nature does not speak any language, but its silent message is the most powerful in the world. Mountains teach patience, rivers teach continuity, waterfalls teach enthusiasm, and green forests inspire a balanced life. That one day spent in the Kerung area taught us this philosophy of life.
The next important stage of this journey was crossing the Himalayan pass at an altitude of about 4,800 meters. Since the amount of oxygen is low at such altitudes, one must be physically and mentally alert. Although some of the travelers experienced mild altitude sickness, our team continued their journey with confidence thanks to regular yoga practice, pranayama, meditation, and positive thinking. We experienced firsthand that yoga is not just a practice of body flexing, but also a science of balancing the mind, body, and breath even in difficult situations.
While crossing the pass, the surrounding snow-capped mountains, distant mountain ranges, blue skies, and peaceful surroundings filled our minds with a sense of bliss. As we climbed higher, the smallness of human life and the vastness of nature became clearer. In such an environment, human ego begins to melt, and humility is born.
Entertainment in nature

The natural scenery seen along the way was no less attractive than a painting by an artist. Here and there, white waterfalls cascading from high cliffs, here and there, green hills, here and there, rivers sparkling like silver, and here and there, wild animals and birds roaming freely in the open fields made the journey even more exciting. Every scene of nature was giving us the same message – the deeper the connection between humans and nature, the more beautiful life becomes.
The enthusiasm, confidence, and spiritual joy were clearly visible on the faces of each yoga guru in our team. We were not just tourists; we were representatives of a campaign to introduce Nepal to the world as a land of yoga and a nation that carries the message of world peace. This feeling made the journey even more meaningful.
In the evening, we reached Saga city. After a long day of travel and crossing the Himalayan route, it was very necessary to rest in Saga. Saga is an important city on the Tibetan Plateau. Upon reaching there, the cool air, calm atmosphere, and mountainous landscape made us feel that another chapter of the journey had begun. After reaching the rest place, everyone checked their health, rested, and prepared to move towards Kailash-Mansarovar the next day.
That evening, all the yoga gurus shared their travel experiences. Some discussed the beauty of nature, some remembered the challenge of the Himalayan trek, some shared their experiences of the self-strength given by yoga. Everyone’s conclusion was the same – yoga not only strengthens the body, but also the mind during difficult journeys.
We did not consider this journey as just a personal spiritual practice. We aimed to spread the message of yoga, peace, friendship, tolerance and human unity to the world. Celebrating International Yoga Day in a holy land like Kailash and Mansarovar was a historic occasion in itself. The mass yoga demonstration there gave a clear message to the world that yoga is not limited to the boundaries of any caste, religion or country; it is the common property of all mankind.
Nepal is the birthplace of Lord Buddha. This land is also the land of sages, yogis, ascetics and spiritual traditions. Therefore, Nepal also has a moral responsibility to give the message of yoga, compassion, non-violence and peace to the world. This GSPSS journey has further strengthened efforts to establish Nepal as a center of yoga, spirituality, and world peace.
Conservation of nature, spiritual awareness, and harmony between humans are the major needs of today’s world. In the current world, which is plagued by climate change, violence, war, mental stress, and selfishness, yoga shows people the path to self-discipline, health, compassion, and coexistence. This journey made us realize this truth more deeply.
Conclusion
This journey from Kerung to Saga was not just a geographical journey; it was a journey of self-respect, respect for nature, dedication to yoga and commitment to world peace. The mountains, waterfalls, rivers, green hills, wildlife and Tibetan landscapes seen while crossing an altitude of 4,800 meters left an indelible impression on our hearts. Those scenes explained the vastness of nature and the true value of human life.
This journey undertaken by 108 yoga gurus of GSPSS to celebrate the 12th International Yoga Day in the holy land of Kailash-Mansarovar is a matter of pride for Nepal. It provided an important opportunity to introduce Nepal to the world as an inspiring role model of yoga, spirituality, peace and human values.
We want to give this message to all the people of the world – let us adopt yoga, love nature, believe in humanity and move forward unitedly on the path of world peace. This unique journey to Kailash-Mansarovar has become a priceless asset of our lives, the inspiration of which will give us the strength to continue moving forward on the path of yoga, service, harmony and world welfare throughout our lives.
